Info for the Bands...
(updated 2007-06-08)
If you're reading this, chances are either we contacted you or you contacted us to be featured on a future episode of the Capital Rock Show.
Here is some information on the show. You can always drop us an email at capitalrockshow@gmail.com for further information.
Overview:
The premise is simple: Help great bands get exposure on a national and international level through the podcast medium. We feature bands from around the world with focus on Canadian rockers. No band is too big or too small. We spin signed and unsigned bands.
Each episode is dedicated to 1 band, typically playing 4 songs from
the band's music catalog. Info gathered from the band's website/myspace site etc is used to give some background info to the listeners. This format gives listeners 20 minutes to check your music out.
Optional:
Time permitting, we also optionally ask bands to record short "shoutouts". These sound bytes are used on the episode the band is featured on as well as future podcasts. These short bytes are another great way to keep the band name out there on CRS episodes. This can be as simple as "hey this is so-and-so with so-and-so-band and you are listening to great music on the Capital Rock Show (or CRS for short)". Feel free to also improvise and do crazy shit.
Shoutouts can be:
* recorded on a computer as an mp3 or wav file -or-
* even easier, leave a voicemail on our hotline: (206)-202-1141.
Rebroadcast
The CRS podcast is syndicated on http://canadasfreshfm.com (vancouver-based online radio station), as well as being played on the Internet radio station WGPR on Friday nights: WGPR (http://www.wgpr.net/)
CRS is also part of the Association of Music Podcasting (http://musicpodcasting.org), which is a group of 50+ high quality podcasts from around the world all working together to promote great music such as yours. We
promote music from our own shows through this association to try to help cross-market the good bands we find for our own shows. The association has a weekly "review" podcast. We will submit your music for the weekly show.
Where to go from here?
All we need is:
1) 4+ songs to play on the show and load in the jukebox.
2) a shoutout recorded (time permitted in your schedule).
3) if you have pictures to add to the photo gallery, send them over.
4) if there is anything you want mentioned on the show, let us know.
You can:
1) email the mp3s,
2) provide a link to download them
3) ftp (contact for access)
4) snail mail (contact for mailing address) for CDs.
Once your show has been recorded, an email is sent out with details on accessing the show, links, images etc.
Phew, ok that's it. So, let's get your music featured on CRS today...
